Just to be absolutely sure I'll have a look for Philip E Poingdestre birth next time to check that his middle name was Ernest.

I went through the birth indexes looking for your Olive Rose born c1903 and the only one that came anywhere close was the birth of a Rosaline Olive, as found above.

A look at the birth certificate her revealed that she was born on 31/10/1902 at 42, Aquila Rd, St Helier. Her parents were Ernest Poingdestre, a Driver, and Rose Miller. The birth was notified by an Annie Perchard.

This threw me a bit as by looking at earlier censuses I could see that Philip and Henrietta did not have a son called Ernest. However they did have one, born 1880, entered as Philip E, perhaps he was known by his middle name to avoid confusion with his father!

I then found the marriage of Ernest P and Rose Millar, which took place at the St Helier Town Church, 15/7/1902. He was 22 and his occupation was Driver. His father was Philip, also a Driver. This fits with the 1901 where both are described as Carters. To clinch that this is the right family one of the witnesses was L.M. Poingdestre who would be Lilian Maud, Ernest's sister on the 1901.

Rose Miller was also 22 on her marriage certificate, she was born in the parish of St Ouen and her father was John, a Labourer.

Another way to find her parents would be to give me until next week to go and have a look at her birth certificate.

No charge for looking over here but £20 to buy the certificate!

As she was born between census the only way to find out for certain would be to buy her birth certificate

Have you looked at 1901, to see who MAY be her parent?

Do the grandparents have the same surname as the child?
