Hi Colin, don't worry about the Odiham as some of the bap of earlier famiies have been there. it looks like the family have gone their own way as I have the mother Maria and sister Jane living in Hampshire in 1851 but why would Edwin be at Berkshire without his parents at the age of 11. (His father died in 1848 so he wouldn't be with him) in 1881 Maria, daug Jane (widow) and four children living in Farnham, maybe that is where all of the family moved to. I have tried to find a marriage for Edwin, came across one in Sep Qtr 1869 at Winchester Hampshire. Found a death in 1873 age 30 so checked births and found one in Winchester in 1843 so that puts paid to that. I am not sure where to go with these, will have to see
Thank you so much
Julia

I don't know whether it is possible but could someone please look up for me the 1851 census for George Green born 1831 Crondall Hampshire and his brother Edwin born 1839 Crondall. I have them both on the 1841 Census above but am having difficulty with the both of them because Edwin was down as Edmund and I can find no trace of Georges birth in 1831.
Any help would be appreciated,
Julia

How stupid of me I never thought of that, will give that a go. I did find a few deaths for a Maria in Hampshire but not where I was expecting her to live and ages were a couple of years different.
Thanks

There is always the possibility that she married again, if you cannot find a death.

Thank you Colin, I really appreciate all of your help, between the two of you It seems to have come together. The children definitely belong to the same family and the deaths have proved it. The Edmund I had down was Edwin, names get confused in those days.
I was wondering if it is possible to try and find thd 1861 Census for Maria Green. I have her baptism as 8 Aug 1802 Sherborn St John, Hampshire, 1851 she was living with her daughter Jane in Crondall aged 47. I am trying to find out a possible death and if she is on the census that would really help.
Thank you once again

Sorry I did not go over the page, you have found everything for me. With regard to the George I was looking for, my baptism was 27 Sep 1839. I think my contact must have got it wrong and meant to put down Edwin as there are only two days the diff, that solves my problem. Thank you for all of the rest, much appreciated.

Thank you Colin, I was going to check these out, obviously I was not thinking straight earlier on, forgot that they could have possibly died. Have to check out James birth now to see if he was connected to the family. There are two I am now looking for, George who was bap 1839 and Mark bap 1826 though he could have been working in 1841. George I am unsure of as I have a George born 1831 to George & Maria so how come there was another George born 1839???

Thank you so much for trying, it looks as if I will have to persevere with my contact on Ancestry to see where he has got all of his information from. His does seem correct but somewhere there is a contradiction.
I really appreciate all of your helpl

I cannot find sign of any other Henry (James) Green in the censuses, if these are all yours.
Just because they were born does not mean that they lived to make the censuses.

Thanks for all of the census, they agree with what I have for Henry which is great. At least I have something right, It still seems though as if there are two Henry Greens which is complicated their parentage.

Thank you for that, I thought that there was another family for a George & Maria, obviously there has to be another family somewhere with these children on it. Could you please see if there is anything for another Henry (James) Green with the above parents.
much appreciated for all of this

juliag Report 16 May 2011 08:10

That is interesting, the bap he had on his tree is your second one George & Maria so it seems as if he is corect with that one. I wonder if there is another census in 1841 for a George & Maria with all these children
