Hello David,

If you google Wardle parish church, there are several sites which may be useful to you. There should still be church records available.

I clicked on Wardle and Smallbridge History Group and there I found some of their Confirmation records. If you put the name Clough into the search box, you come upon several with that name living on Ramsden Road. If you contact the group, they may be able to give you some advice.

Have fun.

Are the undertakers still in business?

Some old family firms have archives which go back many years and he might be recorded there.

David
not directly connected to Charles, but going further back on your tree you've got Henry Clough (brother of your great (2) grandfather). I stumbled on his burial details by chance through www.lan-opc.org.uk. He shows as buried (with several members of his family) at St James Church, Ashworth. There are also several other Cloughs from the Norden area on this burial record
good wishes
John

Have you tried: http://www.gravestonephotos.com/
It's a voluntary project which catalogues gravestones.

Good luck with your search,
