6.11 am and reporting for duty..Richard was aged 19 years when he married in 1872 and he gives his address as Woodstock which is where the Prisks lived in Cornwall...I believe I may have made some head way with all of this and Richard could have been the son of George Davies and Mary Nancarrow or Mary White..Thomas Henry Davies aged 3 years for 1891 was my Grandfather...
Thankyou all so very very much for your help which is greatly appreciated...
I am going to follow my new leads and see where it takes me..

Once again very many thanks

Marion

Well I have taken a look at the census and have come to the conclusion Your Richard and Mary Ann did'nt want to be found. On the 1881 census Mary Ann says she was born in France Lyons !

Still there is always the old thing about the question "Where are you from?" and people said where they had just come from!

I don't think that George was Richard's brother but perhaps a cousin or something. George was born in Hampshire and could have been the name on their marriage cert.?? It does happen sometimes if the father is dead. But this dos'nt get us anywhere.
Also the names of Richard and Mary's children don't really reflect any family names as their son George 1891 could have been named after George Senior a long friend or relly.

I am just trying to find some connection with other family, thats all.

Lady Marion have you any of their childrens birth certs please?

Thankyou for the further info Lady Marion.

Sorry about the comment in previous post. If you had put something about you being in OZ I would have understood your time was different to ours.

I am in Devon England.

What was Richard's declared age when he married?

What was his address?

Who were the witnesses?

His giving different info on every census makes tracing him very tricky...........

Thanks for posting the censuses.

I can't, in all honesty, see any connection between the 1891 and 1911

1881 certainly seems to be the same as 1891

Is one of their children in your direct line?

Thankyou for your replies...I live in Australia and I was a little upset to read the comment about people who won't help themselves!! As a rule I try to answer most replies as soon as I see them posted but in this case I couldn't as I had visitors coming...I will post what I have on Richard after 1871 if you will give me a little more time through the day..Its 7.02am here and I am off to work. Will post on Richard when I return home this evening.
Once again very many thanks for all your time and efforts in helping with Richard..

Flick

Flick Report 20 May 2011 12:11

Can you tell us how you got back to Richard?

The names/birth years/birthplaces of his children would help us to help you

Details of 1891 and 1911 to which your refer would be useful.

You obviously think you're giving enough info, but, unfortunately, you're not.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 May 2011 11:40

Right it seems he married Mary Ann Prisk on the 13 Jan 1872.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 May 2011 11:09

Without your input we cannot help with this as you are not answering our questions.

Who did Richard marry?

What was his occupation please?

Have you found him on any other census?

Was his father George a seaman?
