I have traced my Sumner family back to a William Sumner who first married a Sarah Bate on 24 May 1774 in St Oswald’s Church, Winwick, Lancashire and then, after her death, married Mary Cawley on 09 November 1797 also in St Oswald’s. I have a copy of the Banns of Marriage for the latter marriage extracted from the parish register however the parents of the bridal couple are not reflected and the witnesses provide no clues. |
