Eaj123 Report 23 May 2011 02:13

In the 1911 census I have Peter Hollick, born 1904 in London. He is living with his father, Arthur William Hollick at 15 Dodson Street Southwark and his sister Maud (1897) is also living there. His mother Margaret, formerly Traynor, died in 1910 in Southwark. There were two other children of Arthur and Margaret, called Arthur (1892) and Margaret (1894) who are not shown as living with their father in 1911.

I cannot find a birth record for Peter. In 1904 there were two Hollicks born in Southwark London, Arthur Edward (1D 111) and Alfred Edward (1D 161), BUT no Peter.

Please could somebody with better ideas see if there is a Peter born about 1904 in London?

Many thanks

Liz

That's odd, isn't it ? You'd almost swear that the Arthur Edward birth would fit in with that family.

Alfred Edward seems to be accounted for:

Hi Lynne and Maureen

There was a huge family of Hollicks and as with all the old families the same names seem to crop up through the generations. But Peter is a new name. Looks like he's not Alfred - could he be Arthur and was just called Peter as a nickname?

Thanks for your help

Hi Maureen

I have Arthur's family in my tree - I'd lost him amongst the many Hollicks. His mother was Alice Grover. I love the name of their daughter Beatrice Lily - I think the original by that name was an actress or music hall star?

Perhaps they just didn't register Peter.

Thanks

I have looked but I cannot find any birth record. I have looked between 1902 and 1906.

I wonder if Peter was just a name he used?

I think you might have to order the certificates for the births you have found to see who the parents are? He could have been named after his father and used the name Peter??

Hi Lynne

Alfred and Arthur both seem to be accounted for in the 1911 census so it can't be those two.

I think he was probably not registered or his birth record has been misplaced.

Could be one of those mysteries that remain in family trees!

Many thanks anyway
