Hello,
I was wondering if an ancestor has a career listed as housekeeper on a census is it possible to find out which house they worked in??

Thanks
:-)

I would think only if they were actually at the house in question at the time the census was taken - more likely if they were living in

have you found this person on the census anywhere?

Hi

thanks for advice i thought that might be the case. they are on the census for the family home in which they live and it lists occupation as housekeeper. my gran told me she was not a live in housekeeper.

in that case it probably meant she was what we today call a housewife - keeping house in her own hous!!
