Please can someone who subscribes to FindMy Past check
the Chelsea Pensioner records for me to find out whether my Great Grandfather William Pratt, born 1830 Isleworth, Middlesex, joined the army.

I have baptisms for William 1830 and a sister Maria 1831 Isleworth, parents were Charles Pratt and Maria (Wiginton).

I have never been able to find this family in 1841 or 1851 so know nothing about ages or birthplaces of his parents.

In 1857 William fathered a son by my Great Grandmother, Sophia Seaton born 1836 Gawcott, Bucks, in West Bromwich, Staffs. and later my Grandmother, Eliza Jane Pratt, but I have not found a marriage for William and Sophia.

Sophia and some of her family moved to West Bromwich, Staffs sometime between 1851 and 1857. Her brother William Seaton was in the army 1841 to 1861 and he actually married in West Bromwich in 1860, witnesses were William Pratt and Sophia 'Pratt' so it has occured to me that just maybe William Pratt and William Seaton were army buddies???

I do have William Pratt and Sophia on the 1861 census in West Bromwich (Son Thomas' age wrongly transcribed as 14 instead of 4) and on subsequent censuses.

My Pratt family are a long time brick wall and I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone might be able to give.
Regards
Ann

Hi DottyAnn,
I've just been into FindMyPast to look for your William Pratt b.1830 in the British Army Service Records 1760-1913 (Chelsea Pensioner Records).
There are 10 William Pratt listed, none with their dob and only 3 with their place of birth, none from Middlesex.
Regards,

ShelleyRose x
