Old Monkland, Larnark 1800 info please

Would like any info on Old Monkland, Larnark in 1750 to 1825 era as to the population and occurance of the name Munro. Any maps or plans of the town so I can get an idea of where they lived and life at that time, to help with research at that time. Thank you

Hi Heather,
Try www.monklands.co.uk and then click on your home town and you will get extensive info on the towns and villages that made up the parishes of New and Old Monkland.
Also www.scottishmining.co.uk gives lots of info on the villages of Lanarkshire including those in Monkland.

Have a look at .. The Statistical Accounts of Scotland 1791 - 1845. They cover a large range of topics for various parishes in Scotland ... including Old and New Monkland in the County of Lanark.
