Hello

I have posted about Williams family previously - however this query relates to William alone AND has NOT been previously answered,


Trying to detemine if the records I have for William refer to the one person or two. I am hoping that there has been a transcription error in the NBI.

....The National Burial Index shows WIlliam Manwaring age 12, buried 11 Jul 1842 at St Martins Worcester.

I purchased the second record and recieved the death cert today which has William death as 21 July 1842 by accidental drowning, the dates tie in with the 3rd entry. I believe this is my William as it has Henry Manwaring Tailor listed as his father (which he was). Additionally the 1841 census has the family living at Malcheapen St.

Do others have the same conclusion to me in regards to the records that is they refer to the same person .

As I believe the NBI record refers tp William I want to check it, can I find that on Ancestry.

Alternatively can someone do a NBI look up for William for me please.

From the newspaper -

Berrow's Worcester Journal (Worcester, England), Thursday, July 28, 1842

INQUIRY BY MR HYDE - On Friday, at the Talbot Inn, Tything, on William Manwaring, aged about twelve years, son of Mr Manwaring, tailor of Mealcheapen Street, who while bathing in the canal near to the bridge leading to Merriman's Hill, got out of his depth and was drowned before assistance could be rendered. The canal at this point had been recently deepened, and the unfortunate deceased was warned of that fact by a person who saw him enter the water. On an alarm being given, a man named Lewis, who was passing near, threw off his coat and hat and with the aid of a pole, hooked the unfortunate youth from the water. Mr Stephenson, surgeon, soon after arrived, but the poor fellow was quite dead. Verdict "Accidental death by drowning".
