Benjamin Wright:- DOB 1777- place Rough Lee Yorks

Having for a number of years been seeking the background of my X5 grandfather Benjamin Wright noted on the 1841 census to have been born in Roughlee Yorkshire. I have been strongly advised that Roughlee has never been in Yorkshire, it is a Lancashire village, however having placed an article re the above person in the North Yorkshire FHS magazine, two very kind gentlemen have replied to the fact that there was small area of land known as Rough Lee not far from Elland in West Yorkshire.
Could any one help re background etc.. at the time noted above i.e. 1777.
Benjamin Wright married an Ellen Morrell from Pannal North Yorkshire at Manchester Cathedral in 1802 then moving on to Preston Lancs.
With the exception of knowing the demise and whereabouts of Benjamin, most other facts are known. Any further info would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all for your replies!
Will try to respond accordingly!
FAO: Leonard:- Noted and thank you, unfortunately Benjamin mentioned Salford District Reg. Jul/Aug/Sep 1866 is not our Benjamin, his second wife was named Margaret (Peggy) they married in 1812 Salmesbury, Ellen his first wife died in Preston 1811, ironically Benjamin's wife (Salford) was coincidentally named Ellen. Perhaps in hindsight we could have ventured further info in regard to their life in Preston as it was his death we are pursuing and aware he was at that time living in Brinnington Stockport Chesh. apology's.
FAO: Brummiejan:- As requested 1841 census ref. HO 107/108/111 Stockport, Brinnington, Withins Row. occup. Baker c/w second wife Peggy (Margaret) (Benjamin head of family) Yes! confirm 1841 does not show place of birth..
FAO:Maddie:- Thank you that's a help as we are going to search for the place narrows it down somewhat, much appreciated apparently in the Rishworth W.Yorkshire area. Also thank you for the note re Parish Records we have not been able to confirm this one yet from previous awareness, but appreciative you found it in baptisms. Re Stockport death 1853 Chesh. BMD records this as a infant age 0! Can not confirm the Pg.37 Vol.8a without purchasing death cert knowing that Benjamin would be 76 yrs.
FAO:-Brummiejan:- The 1851 is the one noted showing Benjamin Wright (Father) age 74 born Roughlee Yorks (Lodger) John Wright (Son) head of family census ref: HO 107/2157 Brinnington (St Pauls District) Stockport. Can see your problem in thinking Benjamin was a 4yr old since the census taker has put a line through the 7.
