RutlandBelle Report 26 May 2011 11:59

Can anyone find her after 1882 please, she has just disappeared.
If you put her name into Ancestry:

Emmeline Coy born 1860 Harlaxton, Lincolnshire:

you get her in 1861 and 1871 in Harlaxton with her parents, in 1881 she is working as a cook at Wollaton, Nottinghamshire, England and then there is a marriage in 1862:

Marriages Dec 1882
Coy Emmeline Nottingham 7b 449
FOX Walter Nottingham 7b 449
Martin John Nottingham 7b 449
Norman Ann Goodacre Nottingham 7b 449

I cannot find her at all after then even a death, can anyone else please?

(I have a family photo when she is named as Emmie)

Have you discovered who married whom on the 1882 record?

Are you able to put a date to the photo?

Rose I will pursue that death thanks.

Flick , no I haven't and I don't really want to buy the cert if possible, I already spend a fortune on them.

I found an Ann Goodacre Norman who was widow in 1881 age 49 but so far that is all I have found.

It is one of those niggles that I keep going back to

re Adeline- looked at that Emmeline Fox as I thought it a possibility but she is entered as daughter when living with the Fox family in 1891.-jl

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 26 May 2011 12:54

found her in 1891 and as you say another red herring.

thanks anyway.

I thought with a first name of Emmeline she wouldn't be too difficult but there are more than I expected .

RutlandBelle Report 26 May 2011 12:56

Flick I think you are right about that Ann Goodacre Norman but it seems such a precise name , I wonder if the one that married in 1882 was her daughter,

Have to go an cook lunch now for OH, back later Jennifer

So, for some odd reason, her death was registered in her first married name..........no consideration for poor FH researchers!!

At least now you can be fairly confident that Emmeline DID marry Fox.

Hi

Emmeline Coy married Walter Fox at St Mary's Church Nottingham on 26 Oct 1882. I can check this at the archives for you when I'm next there to see if its the right one.

RutlandBelle Report 28 May 2011 11:08

Wonderful Wendy got me the marriage details from Nottingham Archives as follows:

26 Oct 1882 Emmeline Coy aged 22yrs of Long Row father James Coy a Joiner to Walter Fox aged 30yrs a Hair Dresser of Long Row father Thomas Joseph Fox a Artist wittnesses were James Coy & Lois Lane Coy.

Now you think that would make it easier to find Walter pre -marriage and both of them afterwards but I can't and I have tried, including google.

Asking for help here, thanks
