Hi there.

I'm having trouble finding some relatives. Unsure if they're alive or not. Tried phoning similar names in the area they were last known to live in. Wondering now if there is a central place where you can access obituaries from years gone by.

I'm mainly interested in Liverpool, Engand. I came across one website, Liverpool Echo, but their database doesn't go back far.

So does anyone know a website that stores an extensive collection of the obituaries from the Liverpool area or if such a collection even exists?

Thanks,
Danny

The GRO complies an index of births deaths and marriages and can be searched on sites such as ancestry

I don't want BMD's, I want obituaries. Notices of deaths. Family members posting their messages. That way if you're not sure whether its the person you're looking for's Date of Death, then you could see other names in the obituaries and see oh that must be him as thats his wife, or his kid or his grandkids posting remembrance messages about him.

Thats ok as long as the family posted such notices.

You could try a main libary in the area they should have old copies of the local papers but you would need a date of death I would think

Not all deaths are recorded in newspapers...............so you can't rely on finding info that way.
