Hi Ken2, Manchester Archives and Local Studies who are based at City Library (The Manchester Room) on Deansgate have the birth, marriage and burial records on microfilm for St James, George Street. for the years 1788 to 1854. The reference is MFPR163. Ring the library first to book time on a microfilm reader. All the info you need should be on there. They will do photocopies of the original record once you have found it.

Thanks for that information regarding the place of death.
If I get Roger's death certificate hopefully the informant will be a family member and I can use that address to search the 1841 census, even though the death was 6 years later..

the burial of Roger Dewhurst Crompton - only extra info is that he died in the infirmary

There are some MI's but they are handwritten and not indexed

Ginny - Don't know what happened to Elizabeth Crompton [nee Hammond]. I assumed she was around for the baptisms in Bolton on 25 Dec 1841 [see list of children in previous post]

The LCRO document relating to th trial doesn't give much info except that the costs were £6.0s.4d; the solicitors/clerks were Whitehead, Barlow and Radclliffe and the case was Hannah Widdall against Roger Dewhurst Crompton --larceny

the burials are also at the Lancs Records Office along with some MI's but don't know what years for MI's. If I go next week I will have a look if no-one else has found the info

Who were the children please

Edit: Was Elizabeth alive in early 1841?

Roger's wife was Elizabeth and they married at Warburton, Cheshire 19 June 1825.
They had 6 children between 1826 and 1841 all baptised at Bolton le Moors Parish Church according to the IGI.
1841 30 Aug he was tried at Salford County Sessions and sentenced to 2 months imprisonment for larceny.
The bit on Ancestry is from my private tree on there.

I find quite often I can't find a trace of someone on a census on GR so I look on Ancestry on their homepage where you can enter some details.

I can't look at the info on there but there is a Roger Dewhurst Crompton who was apparently on trial and imprisoned on 30th August 1841.

There is also an entry in the 1841 for a Roger Crompton born circa 1801 in Lancashire.

Perhaps a kind soul on here will look up the info on Ancestry for you.
