Please update this thread when you have the birth certificates so we can see where to go, and hopefully find them.

Thank you all for the replies, very helpful,
i am still waiting on birth certificates for confirmation of names but was told the first names may not be on the certificates.
I have contacted people with matching names in trees but have had no replies yet (have had for others in my tree but nothing for west).

Hello Jonathan and welcome to the boards.

If you try putting the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above, you will see that some members of this site have them in their tree. You can click on the find out more button to contact the tree owners for further information. Regards. Cx.

Have you got Brian's birth certificate for parents' names?
This could be their marriage
Marriages Jun 1923
West Edith L West Cardiff 11a 729
West James West Cardiff 11a 729

Both of the birts show the Mothers maiden name as West also.

There is this marriage, but you need one of the childrens birth certs to confirm parents names

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Jun 1923 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

West Edith L West Cardiff 11a 729
West James West Cardiff 11a 729

(There are also West/West births in Cardiff in 1929 and 1931, but only way to tell if related would be to purchase the certs)

If Brian was born Brian West and his Mother's maiden name was West, then he is either illegitimate, or his Mother married a man surname West.
What is Brian's Father's name on the marriage certificate?
And if Brian is still alive, and Russell, we had best delete some of this information.

Hi, I am trying to find my grandparents on my fathers side but am stuck.
The only info i have is that they had 2 sons brian j (1926) and russell j (1936), brian was born in Rhymney Valley, married joan, and russell in cardiff (i think) married joyce thomas , divorced then married pamela smith .
According to birth records my grandmothers maiden name was west.
Have come up with a few hot matches - contacted but no reply.
hope someone can help
