Alexander Shiel was killed in East Boldon County Durham on the 15th. July 1931 and I think he may be my G/Grandfather. I understand that the South Shields Central Library holds microfiche copies of the Shields Gazette and would be eternally grateful if someone would see if there is a write up on this accident and let me know what is written. Hopefully it will say "loving husband of" or "Father of" so I can get some confirmation of the match. |

Most libraries in the north are very helpful and as you have the exact date of death I'm sure if you contact the library they will look through the back copies of newspapers for you and send you photocopies of anything they find. They usually only charge a small fee for photocopies. |

Thank you all for your help. I have the death certificate which has given me the accident details, but he was a ships carpenter on previous census and a retired shipwright on the death cert. so I don't think he was the bloke you found Lindsey, I will try the library. Why does this hobby always bring up more questions than it answers? |
