Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace the family of Julia Elizabeth Pittam b 1875 Silverstone Towcester Northants 3b12. Julia married Martin Barrett Farmer (b 1876 Blakesley, Towcester) in 1899 and went on to have 8 children 7 of who lived. (that I know of!!)

I believe I have found her as a servant in the 1891 census but the census in which I'd really like to find her is 1881 where I would hope to find her parents and siblings. There are many Pittam names around in Towcester but I can't tie up which family she belongs to. I believe there may be an error in the spelling of the surname and I've tried variations but nothing as yet.

It is possible she is the daughter of Joseph Pittam b1829 and Matilda Adkins b 1831 as they had a large family all born in Silverstone but I just can't find that 1881 census entry to confirm this. By 1891 the only members of this family still with Joseph( now a widower) is son Ephraim.

Is anyone able to find this entry for me or any other information that might lead me to Julia's parents? Your help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Thanks but I'm not in a position to fund the purchase of certificates so I was looking for other options. I seem to be having trouble finding census records through this site quite a lot recently - I can't find Julia Farmer and her husband Martin Farmer (and I believe a son Cyril Martin Farmer) in the 1901 census either. When I search on 'find my past' there appears to be an entry but I can't find it on genes reunited where I have membership. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Thats great so She wasn't the daughter of Joseph which rules out a lot of Pittams!! Don't quite know how Pittam became Cottam but there you go!!

A tree on Ancestry says that she is the daughter of James Pittam + Eliza Garlick.

However, this will need to be checked as they are VERY often wrong !!
