I have information regarding a family grave of an unknowm member of my family. I purchased a death certificate for an Alexander McDonald who died in 1896 from Scotland's people. According to my information on this grave, Alexander was interred into the grave in 1895, his age was unknown and no information was listed as to his address to follow up on. This is the only Alexander from Greenock Scotland that was listed on Scotlands people. Has anyone any advice on any other sites I may be able to find the correct Alexander 1895. Thank you. |

You could contact the cemetry and they should be able to tell you if anyone else is interred in the same grave. There were 50 Alex McDonald's who died in 1895 in Scotland and as you state none of them died in Greencok. |

Thank you for replying, I have a copy of all the members of the family that where interred and Alexander was the first interred of five. I have been unable to confirm the relationship as he has the same surname as all the family members. |

Do you want to give the other names/ Have you tried matching the names to census information? |

Julia and Patrick Mclaughlan married in 1880. Julia's father was called James McDonald and yes the McNiell was Margaret's maiden surname. I have yet to confirm this. |

Allan McDonald had an alias James Colqhoun. Margaret McNeill was married to Allan 1861 Port Glasgow. From what I can see Julia was born prior to her marriage with Allan. |

Wow, Could I ask how you found this information out as I have searched through all Scotland's sites to no avail on finding Julia's birth certificate. Thank you so much for this information x |

You now have the date of Julia's birth as above on IGI Family search so you can now open the cert on Scotland's People. I was having difficulty finding her on any census prior to 1881. I was looking for Julia McDonald. So I thought she may have her mother's maiden name. Not uncommon on a number of searches I have done. Opening the marrigae for Alland and Margaret will give you the parents of Margaret. |
