Thankyou all for your interest and replies. I have searched everywhere for John's parents, my only option left is to obtain a copy of his marriage certificate in the hope that his father is named.
Are parents named on marriage certificates from 1835?

I don't think marriage certs are available before civil registration began in 1837.

No such things as certs before July 1837.....and the father's name is unlikely to be mentioned on the Parish register.

You will need to visit the County Records Office to see if you can find a baptism for John

Thankyou again
I have the parish register for the marriage and there is no mention of father, I thought maybe there might be another record, more detailed,
I have checked baptisms and no sign of one for John
I have a notion that John is the son of Thomas Arnold 1787 of Heath & Reach, apparently none of his children were baptised so this could account for no records.
The confusion is that I have found a baptism for a John Arnold 25 Dec 1815-All Saints Church,Leighton Buzzard,Beds-Father William Arnold.
Thomas had a brother William 1784
Cannot find any other records for John 1815 or William 1784
Maybe this is my John Arnold c1816
Any ideas?
