Thanks for various replys. We (my cousins and I) have a fair amout of information up to her vanishing act in about March 1930. I have tried several death certificates, but unfortunately they weren't her. There was another Doris Bristow (married name) around Wandsworth. I have yet to find much information about Ethel, Doris's sister, or George Tickner, Doris's step brother, (child of Sarah - called herself Helen Bristow ne' Tickner). I have some information about Doris's step sister Helen Bristow, (she married into a family from Souldern Oxfordshire), but cannot find anyone with even the smallest hint of where Doris went. If she was buried in another name, then it is a brick wall, until someone starts looking into it, but we all keep looking. There were several Doris Bristows in the Emigration records to America and other places, so you never know, she may pop out of the woodwork one day! |

Doris Enid Austin (formally Bristow) was born 1894 Lambeth, (12 Roupell St) vanished 1930 Oxfordshire. she left 4 children aged 7 and under, and has never been heard of since. Her father was Henry George Bristow and mother Helen (or Sarah) Bristow (formally Tickner). If anyone has any further information, or there are any decendants of her sisters or brother, please get in touch. Doris's children are still all alive, but would like to know where there mother disappeared to. They were all living in Bladon or Woodstock area, Oxfordshire at the time, along with Arthur Austin her husband. There is a rumour 'she took the name of another man'. Any information at all would be most welcome. |
