Frances in Norwich Report 31 May 2011 21:40

My grandparents were Arthur Bartram b.1883 Tivetshall Norfolk and Sarah Ellen Smith b. 1884 Pulham Norfolk. They married in Bungay in 1907. Arthur was a police constable and was stationed in north Norfolk (Castle Acre and Briston confirmed) My uncle George Bartram was born in Grimston in 1909 and my father, Clifford Arthur Bartram was born in Melton Constable in 1921. I have been told that there was another son born between George and Clifford, who died young. I have tried to find a record for this son but have had no luck. I have checked Free BMD and Ancestry but have had no luck. I have also checked the churchyard records for Castle Acre. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might check next? On the rare occasions that I have been to the record office I have looked in vain, through the Parish records for a child born to Arthur and Sarah (also known as Ellen). Any help would be appreciated. I am only able to come on here in the evenings as I work full time. I will be around tonight until 10pm and will check back tomorrow night.

Fingers crossed that someone can give me a clue where to go next.

Frances

Arthur joined the police force in 1908. I have his police records.
I understand that the 1911 records children who have died, so can safely say that the baby was born between 1911 and 1921, is that correct?

Sorry, Flick, meant to add that I believe he was exempt from serving in WW1

IF there was a 3rd child, it would have been born after the date of the 1911 census.........

So the only way is to keep trying to find him through the parish records.
My uncle was always very protective of my Dad and the reason I have been told by my cousin is because of the child who died.

Will keep searching.

Thanks for your help.

Frances :-)
