Trying to find out info for the above named, have 2 different spellings of his last name Paterson or Patterson + 2 different birth dates 1857 or 1859 he married Helen Benzies Dec 27 1880 in Aberdeen

Hi bob, John paterson Morrison and Helen benzie were my gg grandparents . They lived at hillfoot in oyne, John was a well known horseman/crofter in the area. I visited the croft just a few weeks back. I have some info on the family more from the benzie side. Do you know why he dropped the Morrison name?? I will try and find out as John and Helens granddaughter is still alive and she may be able to share some light.
