Thank you so much for the help on census finds.

Does anyone know how to trace the births of people like my g grandfather who are born in france as british citizens?

I do not know which set of records to look in, as far as I have looked I cannot find it in any traditional birth records, unless I am being dim and overlooking them :-D

Thanks

Kirsty

Hi

His name was Laurence Eglinton born 1879

His Elder brother and sister David William Eglinton 1876 and Estelle Lizzie Eglinton 1878 were also born in France under British subjecy.

there parents were William James Eglinton and Lizzie Ann Spender. Cannot find them on the 1881 census or 1891 census but can find William with his first wife Sarah on the 1871 census.

Thanks

Kirsty

Hi,

My great grandfather was born in France under British Subjecy.

We have been searching for his birth for a long time in the hope of ordering his or his elder siblings birth certificates to find his fathers occupation encase it gives us a lead as to why they moved to France for a short time but have had no luck.

Any and all advice very very gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Kirsty :-D
