Familysearch is the place to start for parish records. Note that baptisms might be quite a long time after the birth, sometimes years. Look for IGI (International Genealogical Index) entries as they are backed up by actual records |

Hi, am helping my stepdad to trace his family tree and am looking for bmd records from pre 1855 in Scotland. Using scotlandspeople and found his son's death certificate (1903) showing both William and his wife Margaret (can't make out the maiden name) but no bmd details for either of them. |
