Hi, am helping my stepdad to trace his family tree and am looking for bmd records from pre 1855 in Scotland. Using scotlandspeople and found his son's death certificate (1903) showing both William and his wife Margaret (can't make out the maiden name) but no bmd details for either of them.

They had 5 children and have found Loudovic on the 1891 census with his wife Mary, and their children.
Trying to find William on the previous censuses is proving difficult. We are fairly confident that they had 5 children:
James Hill c1854
Isabella Hill c1856
Loudovic Hill 1861 - 1903
Another Isabella shows on the census born 1862
John Hill 1863

Any more information would be great or where to find bmd records for earlier than 1855?
