If he married his fathers name should be on his marriage cert

Hi, I have hit a dead end in the search for information on my husbands great-grand father! His surname was Dooley b:1884 d:1957. There are no census records (that i can find) previous to 1901 where he was recorded as a visitor. There are also rumours of the Dooley family coming from Ireland and I know from searching for other relatives information in Ireland is hard to find.

Anyway......does anyone have any tips or advice. It would be greatly appreciated.
