I am trying to find any family members that may have been sent out to Australia on a convict ship.
I have traced my family back to William Hand,1794,Cambridgeshire,UK.
How or where do I look for this info?
Regards Barb

Ancestry has this database which might help:

England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892

Another excellent site for Australian genealogy is:

Hi Barbra.

My convict references tells me there were 25 HAND ( convict ) surnames sent to Australian Colony between 1789 ( 2nd fleet ) to 1852 from the U.K

The earliest was a William HAND convicted at Wiltshire assizes Dec. 1789 and sent to NSW colony for 7 years.

If i can any help further on any particular person.....see my "Convict" help thread.
