Hi,
William Edward Taylor was born in Castle Bytham Lincolnshire in 1841 to Richard and Sarah Taylor (Christened 28th sept 1841) I can find him in the 1851 census with his parents, but cannot find him in the 1861 census records. At some point between 1851 and 1864 he married his first wife Lucy. I know this from the 1871 census, when they were living in Frampton, showing Lucy to be 2 yrs older than him and the fact that their first child Lucy is shown as being born around 1864. From other sites and the 1881 census I know that Lucy died in 1878 and William married Elizabeth Gill in 1879. However I am finding it hard to find a marriage record for William to his first wife Lucy. I am also not sure if Lucy is their first child, or the first one to survive until the next census date.
Any help would be much appreciated and many thanks in advance :), Stephen.

hi, I did find the Taylor/Townend marriage details on familyseach, but I feel that Althorpe is possibly a little far north for someone born in Grantham and someone born in clipsham to get married... I was hoping to find William in the 1861 census to see where he was living at the time. I have thought about getting Lucy junior's birth cert, but the 1871 census states she was born in Clipsham Rutland, and the only Lucy Taylors on Gene's in 1863 to 1865 don't seem to be registered in the right places. Those are my thoughts, are they on the right lines?

I found the Goddard/Taylor match too, that might explain why there is a gap between their first child Lucy and their second child Sarah Ann who was born in 1870. It's possible that Lucy junior may not be William's daugher, but she took on his name when her mother married him.
