hi i am looking for ARTHUR WORRALL born 1878 in walsgrave on sowe, warwickshire, sometimes down as foleshill

he was living in sowe on the 1881/91 census (single) but living in nottingham by 1901,

i know from his ww1 records that he was married and widowed by 1914, he died in 1917/18

i am trying to find his wife and children ect, so hoping they show up with him in 1911

he may have moved back to sowe as he still had family there

thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any help offered

Arthur Worrall married Lily Sulley Sept 1914 Notts Vol 7B Page771

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 6 Jun 2011 17:46

Possibly correct but the snag is that on his attestation papers in September 1914 Arthur is shown as a widower. A Lily Worrall died aged 26 in 1918??

Deaths Dec 1918 (>99%)
Worrall Lily 26 Nottingham 7b 827

Another query being that the military record indicates that he was discharged as being unlikely to become an efficient soldier on 15/10/1914.

He may of course have re-enlisted perhaps under a slightly altered surname:

Name: Arthur Warrall
Birth Place: Warsgrave, Warwick
Residence: Whitwick, Leics
Death Date: 23 Apr 1917
Death Location: Mesopotamia
Enlistment Location: Wigston, Leics
Rank: Private
Regiment: Leicestershire Regiment
Battalion: 2nd Battalion
Number: 20626
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Asiatic Theatres

It also asks have you resided with your dad or at present address for 3 years.
1911 and on Army records his dad is still in Basford Notts 50,Betinck Street?
The other address is Fowkes Lane Whitwick Nr Coalville Leicestershire.
So he must have been there Sept 1911??

I can't find that address in 1911,but Fowkes street shows up in Whitwick LE67.

hi

ARTHUR rejoined the army and died on 23rd april 1917

20626 Pte. Arthur Worrall, 2nd Leicesters, was killed in action on 23rd April 1917 aged 38. His body was not identified and he is, therefore, commemorated on the Basra Memorial in Iraq. Originally from Warwickshire, he lived at 50 Bentinck Street, Hucknall

these details were from a expert on hucknall ww1 dead

i have seen the marriage for lily but dismissed it as she was still alive in 1914

still baffled ????

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 6 Jun 2011 18:05

Births Jun 1909 (>99%)
Johnson Selina Worrall Basford 7b 300

Births Mar 1911 (>99%)
Johnson Isaac W Mansfield 7b 83

It looks very much as if Arthur did not marry in the conventional sense.

???
Deaths Dec 1913 (>99%)
Johnson Harriet 33 Basford 7b 243

Claire,
It would have been better if you had added this request onto your other thread.
However, I hope we have been of help with a possible 1911 'family'.
Could it be worth getting one of the birth certificates that Jonesey and I have found, to see if Arthur is the Father - though it would not explain the Hawkesbury birthplace?

Added:
I think we cross-posted - my internet is playing up.
