Dinah (also Known as Jane) Keating

In the 1841 census there is a Dinah Keating born abt 1836-7, who is the daughter of Daniel and Ann Keating of Bromsgrove Worcestershire. She looks a likely candidate as an ancestor of Helens who finished up in NZ married to Edward Jones. They were in NZ in 1857 as the first child was born that year in Lower Hutt. Looking at all records, Dinah Keating seems to have just disappeared after 1841. Can anyone help trace her.
Thanks, Calvin

Further info re my earlier posting. In the 1851 there is an Ann Caton (widow) in Bromsgrove born 1811, and her family looks very like the Keating family except it only shows females. The eldest son of the Keating family (Frederick) is in the census under Keting, but Henry and Daniel are not obvious. Even if this is the family the Catons seem to disappear too.

Hi Helen. Nobody actually knows about your previous thread except you. I found it by googling the names at this site.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/ancestors/jones/thread/1243367

from October 2010.

You should have continued this search in that thread. (You can find your threads any time by clicking on "my threads" on the left, and adding a post to a thread brings it back to the top of the boards.) If you haven't read the "How to use" post pinned at the top of the board, that would be useful.

Our Dinah is tuning out to be a real mystery. While we have found a lot of records in NZ for her as Dinah, we have also found records of her as Jane. The surname is still something like Keating or Caton, and her husband shown as Edward Jones. Her birth is always shown as Worcestershire, and her birth always goes back to abt 1837. Her marriage took place to Edward in England, before the departed from Liverpool on the Oliver Lang in Sept 1856. We cant find them. Has anyone got any thoughts.
Thanks,
Calvin

I agree these look a likely match, but the question is where to from here. In the original census form Danah is in fact Dinah. The next step is the one we need. What actually happened to Dinah.

A Nailor is someone who made nails by hand. Whole families were usually involved. They were paid by the amount of metal they picked up and how good their nails were.
