I cannot find any death records, for this person he may of course still be alive ,

His sister and brothers are all dead, ie Richard charles shirley known as Dick,
Lily May ,Shirley known as Lil married name , Bowering,
& Leonard john Shirley known as Jim.
John was the youngest, and It was thought he had an accident when he was in his teens, but no further information can be found.

Can you please edit your post to remove the full date of birth and edit it to just the year of birth because as you say Mr Shirley could still be living and this is a huge invasion of his privacy

There are only 3 births for that name 1916-1940. The first died in infancy.

Then there are 2 marriages for that name, both in 1960. One is in the city where the later birth happened. So is the other, in Islington, likely to be your John? There are several births after that marriage that likely belong to it.

I believe I have identified contact details for one of the children of that marriage.
