I do not have any details that you seek but one explanation as to why they initially went to Australia may be that the move was prompted by the gold rush period which started in 1851, |

We know that Eliza PICKETT and her children, including Sarah Caroline Pickett left London for Australia in 1855 with husband John (Boat and journey details already known to us). |
