Trying to find George Rigby's birth date, (my maternal gt grandfather). He was born about 1870 in Haydock, Lancs to James and Elizabeth Rigby(nee Swift). He married Mary Ellen WALTON. Think he died 1950's. So far have got 2 wrong birth certificates, and an expensive exercise from New Zealand! |

I think this is likely to be his birth as Haydock comes under the Warrington registration district and on the 1871 census he is 11 months old so this seems right:- |

Don't forget that until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births! |

I've checked Lancs OPC, and there isn't a baptism for him in Haydock. |
