I am trying to find the parents of my gt t gt grandfather and grandmother but not having much luck. His name was Abraham Lamb. Born 1798 in Colchester Essex and he was married to Susan Lamb (I do not know her maiden name). Any ideas how I can find this information. Thanks

Very few Essex records on line......you will probably need to visit the County Records Office

I've had a look on LDS, only one record showing for an Abraham Lamb, but it's a birth in 1788 in Hampshire.

I found myself in a situation similar not so long ago, and a few phone calls to small churches in the area my ancestors were living showed results. They were more than happy to have a quick look through their baptism registers and many said because they are so small, many of their registers are not avaliable online.

Mothers maiden name will be on children's birth certificates.
