IHello
I've traced back my tree via the census and am now trying to confirm a marriage. William Butcher married Elizabeth ? around 1831 most probably in the district of Newport Pagnell as they both came from Wavendon. Has anyone access to parish records who could confirm this marriage and the maiden name for me? I'd also like to find births for both parties if possible. I think that the parents of William Butcher could have been John b c 1785 and Fanny b 1791but at the moment this is just a hunch.
Any help would be great. Thank you.

The 1841 and 1851 census information is correct - that is the family I'm tracing.

I think Emma is a different family. They all seem to have come from Wavendon.

There's also an Elizabeth with those parents, AoGG. Not in Wavendon?

mumof4 -- I edited to add the details of Jemima in 1841.

That's the Wiliam and Elizabeth family you're tracing -- any thoughts about that christening?

Could you say where the John and Fanny idea came from?

edit - other children of James and Jemima shown at pilot.familysearch were

John 1808
James 1800
Thomas 1798

Janey
Thanks for that.
The John and Fanny were Butchers I found in the 1841 census of around the right age to be parents of William however my hunch was wrong!!! I believe the Butcher family to be quite large so there is no doubt some connection but without parish records to hand I'm unable to fit in all the pieces.
You're probably right with the christening - anything for Kezia?

1841

Civil parish: Walton
County/Island: Buckinghamshire
Registration district: Newport Pagnell

John Butcher 56 - c1786
Fanny Butcher 50 - c1791

Fanny's a little young for the job with Wiliam born c1807 maybe, but not necessarily.

With a baptism to fit and the parents in Wavendon, I'd plump for James and Jemima.

You may not have any way of confirming even with parish records -- father's name may well not have been recorded when they married. It sometimes just becomes a matter of: there's no other available candidate in baptisms. ;-)

Thank you. It's a shame we can't trace a marriage but maybe Elizabeth came from Woburn or Aspley Guise and they married in a different parish.

AoGG ... again, I just don't get it.

I posted the 1841 census for the household of Jemima Butcher right at the beginning.

It shows Kezia, Susanna and James in that household. I don't understand the need for a separate post for each individual giving no more information whatsoever -- their age and place of residence is right there in the brief census record I copied in the first place.

I also have no idea why you have decided to post a ream of info about a James Butcher born in 1840 in a completely different place. No explanation given.

I'm seeing a dog's breakfast and if I were a relatively new poster trying to figure all that out I would be climbing the nearest wall.
