Find Ancestors

As you can see from the subject I have many options for this lady - my Great Grandmother.

Let me explain!

Emma Lawrence married my Great Grandfather James McGregor Harper in 1897 in Stockport Cheshire and I have found the family in the 1901 and 1911 census....but in 1901 Emma has her birthplace as Leicester Loughboro and in 1911 as Manchester Lancs. I can-not find Emma or her family on the 1881 or 1891 census.

I know her father was John and his occupation on Emma and James marriage certificate was Miner. I have found a John and Martha Lawrence in 1911 in Stockport and their son John...both Johns were miners! But again can-not trace this family back any further to confirm that they are Emmas' parents.

I also can'not find a marriage between a John Lawrence and a Martha either, according to 1911 census they married in 1876! I was hoping this would give me a maiden name to help find Emmas birth certificate!

Any ideas anyone?

Kennsington is a long way from Cheshire and that John was a Polisher, and his father John was a Piano Forte Maker.

The Emma Lawrence from Bury is not the correct one...I went down that route and was contacted by a member who had that Emma in their tree she was not my one :-(

Not sure about the Kensington marriage either.

I have found a possibility in 1891 John and John Lawrence Neath? Does any one have full access to it?

I am starting to wonder if maybe Emma was adopted by a John Lawrence and was born under another name?!? :-(

I didn't get Martha from anywhere just found John as Miner in 1911 in Stockport and his wife was Martha so was trying to go back wards then to see if this was the correct family.

Those are John Senior a garden labourer and the son John is a General Labourer.
