I am trying to find the marriage record of Thomas Young Barnes born c 1811 Berwick upon Tweed and Ann Rankin born C1809 Branxton, Northumberland. They had children James b. 1835, Margaret Ann b. 1837 John b. 1839 Elizabeth b.1840 Charle b. 1843 Jane b. 1846 Thomas b. 1848 and May b. 1850.

Found this for you on Ancestry on a public family tree. Details as follows:-

Thomas Young Barnes b 10/06/1811 Northam Berwick on Tweed Northumberland, d 1864 Durham Northumberland. (Thomas's parents were James Barnes and Isabella Young)
Ann Rankin b c1809 Ford Northumberland, d 1889 Morpeth Northumberland. Married 14/03/1835 Paxton Toll Shoeswood Northumberland.

Children listed on this tree are
James 1836 Norham Northumberland
John 26 Sep 1838 W Allerdean Northumberland
Elizabeth c1840 W Allerdean Northumberland

Thanks Vanessa, there seems to be so many dates and places for the Marriage of this couple...I can't seem to find any documented evidence.... but seeing this, if they were married at Paxton Toll , that would explain cause I think it's rather difficult to find records for those marriages.

The tree that Vanessa found does seem to be quite well sourced ...... as you know one has to be really, really careful with ancestry trees


However, I still wonder where they found the information ..... the tree owner Cahrles Barnes does not say!


For example he gives 6 soruces for the exact date of birth for Thomas:-

England Census
1851 England Census
1861 England Census
1871 England Census
1881 England Census
England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index: 1837-1915

I fail to see or understand how any of those would give the exact date of birth!



There are 4 trees with information on them, they all have the same or similar information re the marriage date and place .............. but NONE of them say where they got that information from!

Thanks for the input, I agree you have to be so carefull when getting information from another tree and taking it as factual, however I have found out the hard way when you have to go back cause it just doesn't make sense. I saw the pedigree resource file too however am some what skeptical of that too.
