Buy his birth cert, to find out the names of his parents..........

Once you have their names, you can look for them in censuses.........

If you are looking for living relations of your father, it may be worthwhile putting his name into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar) to see if anyone on this site has him in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.


As you seem to be new to family research, you may not know how to obtain a birth certificate...I didn't know till told either...so go to freebmd.org.uk click on Search and put your father's name etc. into the search box. When you have found it, you will see a reference number.

Take a note of that number and then go to www.gro.gov.uk and you can order the certificate online. They cost £9.25.

If you need any more help, then just come back onto this thread and ask for advice.
