Find Ancestors

Can anyone tell me if it is poosible to find the parents of anyone born in Germany & is German, I can't find anything on Ancestry or Genes, does anyone know of a website.

I have just tried it again from what I posted and it does take you there (a bit slow to load initially).

You can't click on the address, you have to copy + paste it into the top bar of your browser.

My info is Erwin Bochmann, b/ c1910 Ludenschied Germany, d/ 4th March 1977, was wed to Margrethe Rendfordt, b/ 21st Dec 1914, Nachrodt, Germany, d/ 11th Sept 2001, their son is Manfred Bochmann b/ 25th August1951 in Ludenscheid, Germany he is wed to Jennifer Burt b/ 1952, Harrow Middlesex

Angela - perhaps you ought to edit the above post, and remove Manfred's exact date and town of birth? Hopefully he is still living and wouldn't necessarily want all of his details on a search-able webs site.


Who's BC are you after? Manfred's or one of his ancestors?

Edit- do you have his marrige cert? That (in the UK) would give his father's name if declared.

I'm seeing lots of Bochmann's in Ludenschied, but earlier than the dates you are looking for

Local Civil Registrar's Office:
Most civil birth, marriage and death records in Germany are maintained by the civil registration office (Standesamt) in local towns. You can usually obtain civil registration records by writing (in German) to the town with the appropriate names and dates, reason for your request, and proof of your relationship to the individual(s).
Most cities have websites at
www.(nameofcity).de where you can find the contact information for the appropriate Standesamt.

In the past, I'd written to an Archive. I used a translation programme to put it in to German, but also sent the original English version.
