I agree with Jan.

It does look like they named their children after their fathers names as William and Elizabeth their second and third child could be after her parents so I was wondering if Alfred's father was also Alfred??

There is this one on the 1881 whose father is a farmer and they would have Traction Engins on farms in those days.

This is only a possible and you would still have to buy their marriage cert to find out who Alfred's father was.

Thanks Mel. I'm totally confused now...doesn't take much these days. Will have to sit down with a cuppa and look through all the info you all have given me and see what I can make of it while we wait for the certificate. Thanks all for your help. Will be in touch again soon.
