Thanks Mel. I'm totally confused now...doesn't take much these days. Will have to sit down with a cuppa and look through all the info you all have given me and see what I can make of it while we wait for the certificate. Thanks all for your help. Will be in touch again soon. |

Christine, apart from the location of Farnborough there is no evidence that this is your relative in 1901, though he might be. There are several other possibilities including a couple of Alfred E. Harrisons in Birmingham on census reports. I can't see one where the occupation resembles that in 1911. . You need to hold off till you get his marriage cert. |

Looking through my friends paperwork, Alfred Edward H. died in 1913, a fall at work, age 38!!! With a new baby by the looks of it. Edmundstown LLantrisant S.Wales. Shame. |

Hi Andy, So what was at Farnbrough in 1901 or didn't it exist. Thanks for the info |

Let us know what the marriage cert tells you. Remember they married in West Bromwich so unlikely they met in Farnborough, even if that is your Alfred (I wonder what Eliza was doing there!). |

The RAF didn't exist in 1901. Royal Flying Corps formed 1914? |

Thanks Jan. Looks as if they met while he was in Farnbrough. |

Flick, Thanks for that. Farnborough sounds as if he could have been in the RAF |

1901 perhaps? Supposition based on eldest child's birthplace |

I think you might need a marriage cert. There are several possibles on census reports so impossible to find him without a bit more info. There seem to be 2 born Aston 1875! |
