Just to let you know that I am now in contact with the tree owner on ancestry and we are in the process of making sure that her grandfather and my husband's grandfather were definitely brothers - hopefully we are on the way to solving the mystery of my husband's grandfather's family (he was orphaned at the age of 5 and knew nothing at all about his family!)

It is a public tree, though there isn't much on it. Search for Isabel Ralston born 1920 (note spelling of her name is def. isAbel).

The tree-holder seems to be his grand-daughter.

Well, it looks like him doesn't it? They are showing no documents to support the info, but it seems from the tree there are 2 living children.

He was born 13.1.1912

His parents were Walter William John Lewis (1873-1921) and Nellie (or sometimes Ellen) Lewis nee Gregory (1876-1920)

Parents Walter & Sarah

Died Burlington Ontario Canada 11.2.67

Spouse Isabel Gertrude Ralston 1920 – 1972

hi all
Trying to get some further information on my husband's great-uncle, Arthur J Lewis (born January 1912, Shoreditch, London) orphaned in 1921 in Islington and subsequently sent to the National Childrens Homes was sent to the Canadian Branch, National Childrens Homes, Hamilton, Ont in the SS Antonia in 1926 aged 14.
We have information about his birth, 1911 census and his emmigration etc, but have no idea how to even begin trying to find out what happened to him after he had reached Hamilton. We believe he may have served in the air force in WW2, but know nothing else about his life in Canada.
Hoping someone can give us some help as to where/how to start looking.
