Hello,

I am trying to find the parents of Hubert. Mother's maiden name is Crabb.

He married Dorothy L Ford 1939, son Douglas married Jean Pigg 1962..

Anyone able to find out who Mr Hawkins and Mrs Crabb are please?

I have Hawkins and Crabbs in my tree (also marrying) and there is a possibility if I go back to this or the previous generations I will find a link into my tree.

Thanks for any help -

Rob

No good leads on marriages, so you need the birth cert

For reference -

Births Sep 1915 (>99%)
Hawkins Hubert F R Crabb Plympton 5b 295

The district Plympton is an alternative name for Plympton St Mary and it spans the boundaries of the counties of Cornwall and Devon

Thanks Lindsey - this was what I was thinking I'd have to do ...

One useful "other" point is that these people appear in the tree by XXXXXXXX (and he also has MY tree members, but can't raise him on GR!)

So, I have been checking names of likely "hits" to see if they also appear in his tree! Gives me a bit more "confidence" when going about buying the now expensive GRO certs -

Yup ... Dorothy Ford's mother was Mabel Goodyear and married John Ford

Mabel 1883 Plymouth. John 1881 Scotlan. M 1908.

This by using the method above as a guide (never take other trees as gospel!).

So, I suspect that the Hawkin?Crabb folk are Plymouth or Devon based, and probably also are much the same age as the above.

So, we are looking for Hawkins/Crabbs b. around 1885-1895 and marrying around say 1910 (but maybe back to 1900 - but a son after 15 years is probably pushing it for those days in general).

Don't forget it was wartime so maybe there is no marriage ?

I was wondering ... maybe coz I mentioned living people ... but then, I'm living ...

Pretty certain that the marriage is;

Henry A Hawkins + Gertrude Clare Crabb 1899

The Crabb line links in with my Crabb tree

They had son Arthur L in 1901, so at the moment I am guessing Hubert fits in here.

Funny that the link to a Hawkins is via my Crabb line ... my Hawkins line is a PITA to trace. So, one goes looking for Hawkins and comes up with Crabbs ;-)

I also have a long Moore line (including some Rogers, but no Dudley's!), this links to the ONF Westaways, so can go back long way big time with them. One of the Moore's designed the tractor on stilts which goes from Bigbury to Burgh Island when the tide's in! Also built the Wesleyan Chapel at East Buckland (the small place near Bantham).

Cheers,

Rob

PS Still waiting for a "polite" email from GR ... hmmmm....

Thanks Lindsey, looks like the living have been removed from my post. But who reported it then? Wan't me ;-)

I have this Crabb line going back to1644 - the odd thing is that this branch of the Crabbs was based in Stoke Climsland (not the usual Linkinhorne or Loders crew). Plenty of Crabb stuff on tinternet for these lines, but very little, if anything on my crowd - which is quite odd ... married into the Edgecombes at one point ... posh folk!

Watch out for another thread- which is very very tricky! Jennings lines!

Ta again, very useful info.

Yup, Gerts sister Sarah Betsy Crabb marrried William Henry Mitchlemore in 1880.

Gerts parents are Frederick Edward Pellow Crabb and Ann (Mitchell or Stevens).

Then James Crabb + Betsy Pellow

Then James Crabb and Esther Jenkins. My line descends from James+Esters son Benjamin Crabb ...
