Wow, thank you so much everybody! I will look into all of these further. James Golding may have had a mother called Charlotte, was base-born and his father's name may have been Neal. There is a James Neal Golden registered in births. Cannot find any more about his mother Charlotte or his father Mr. Neal or any siblings. Also trying to find out if he was a hop farmer.

George joined up in 1856 and on his papers gives his birthplace as Boston.
He signed up in Cork and was a Boiler Maker by trade.

Edward Mascall, father of George born 1836 Boston Lincs, husband to Lucy. Looking for leads on Edward and Lucy - no more information on them, inc birth/death dates or their parents.
Their son George changed his name to Mascull, married Elizabeth (Taylor) and had 4 children, Joseph, Lucy, George and Francis. His occupation was Army Private 33rd Foot.
