Just found this but on the IGI not always reliable

George Bright baptised 13/09/1795 Great Somerford Wiltshire a villiage which comes under the Chippenham area. Mother Mary Bright

Reuban Bright baptised 26/03/1806 in Broad Chalk mother Mary Bright.

He is the only Reuban I found so it could be a maybe?.

I wonder if this was Sarah in 1861 - She was working for a person born in Paris (Augustus Wentworth Gore) who was working as something I can't read for the Lord Saint of Ireland??

Haven't found a will for Rueben howver there is a probate for Sarah Bright a spinster in Broad Chalke in 1867. She died on 23 Feb 1867

She left her money - under £200 - to her father and next of kin George Bright of Broad Chalke Labourer

Edit - By a look up at the record office I thought it could be worth asking on this site if someone is going to the Wiltshire Record Office or you could phone them or check their website. Some record offices are really helpful and will check and sent you a copy of a parish record for a small fee

What's the chance a will could be found for the Reuben Bright that Kay found above?:

Name: Reuben Bright
Birth: 25 Mar 1806 - Broad Chalke, Wiltshire, England
Death: Jun 1844 - Broad Chalke, Wiltshire, England
Marriage: 16 Apr 1831 - Broad Chalke, Wiltshire, England
Parents: James Emm, Mary Bright
Spouse: Sarah Thick

If it read anything like George Bright's will in 1868 it might connect him to George (?).

Thank you, Joan.

That's a real find.

Joseph Bright of Martin was my great grandfather. I have a wonderful old photo of him. Apparently he ran the White Hart Inn in Martin.

I have a rich heritage.

Donyt know if you have this but found on ancestry

England & Wales National Probate Calender (index of wills and administrations) 1861 - 1941

WILLS 1869 BRIGHT GEORGE effects under £100.00
5th November
The will of George Bright late of Broad Chalk in the county of Wiltshire labourer deceased who died 30 November 1868 at Broad Chalk aforesaid was proved at SALISBURY by the oaths of James Bright of Broad Chalk aforesaid Malster and Jospeh Bright of Martin in the County aforesaid Innkeeper the sons the Executors.

I dont know how much that would be worth by to-days standards but more than the average labourer who have had in those days.

Hi Kay:

I'm going to show my rookie stripes....

What's involved in asking for a look up at the Record Office?
How would I go about that?

I wonder if the best way forward would be to ask for a look up at the Record Office if you haven't already done.

Actually this one is quite interesting.
I suppose Reuben could have been a brother, or a cousin.

I have birthplaces for George's children as follows:

Sarah(1824)- Broadchalke, Salisbury
James(1826)- Fovant Hut, Salisbury
Reuben(1829) - Broadchalke or Fovant Hut, Salisbury
Alice(1831) - Fovant Hut, Salisbury
Joseph(July 02, 1834) - Fovant Hut, Salisbury

I wonder if you have come across this other Bright in Broad Chalk. The christian name is the same as one of George's children

There is a tree on Ancestery that lists his mother as Mary Bright as below who later married Robert Emms although these appear to be based on submitted records on Family Search

Hi Maddie:

I googled Chippenham. It's only 35 miles from Salisbury, so a possibility.

I actually don't expect much success with this one, but here goes...

No one I know searching for the birth of my George Bright 1800/1801 has been able to track him down.

As far as we know George Bright was born c1800 possibly in Broadchalke, Salisbury.
He died November 30, 1868 in Broadchalke, Salisbury.

George married Ann Williams February 16, 1824 in Broadchalke, Salisbury.
We have traced Ann's ancestors including her parents John Williams and Jane Russel.
Although George was an labourer, he could read and write. He was a witness at Aaron William's marriage (his brother-in-law?) in January 1825.

George Bright and Ann Williams had 5 Bright children: Sarah(1824) , James(1826) Reuben(1829) , Alice(1831) , Joseph(July 02, 1834) .

George Bright can be followed from the 1841 census.

Can anyone find a record of his birth?

Murray
