I notice some of the children of John & Elizabeth have the same names as the sisters of the John on 1881

Looking at the original of census 1911, the word translated foreman might also read fireman, and there is the addition 'sea going', which has not been transcribed.

4 children born, 1 deceased.

Olive Crains looks more like Olive Irene on the original, in which case she may have predated the marriage:

Birth: Chard Olive Irene Cardiff 11a 457 Sep 1903.

Many thanks indeed for all your replies. Have checked Births, hence I think probably ireland, also CWGC, think it may be merchant navy loss, which is more difficult to investigate.
Many thanks for the 1911 transcript.
Kind Regards
Jeff

Hi Folks, Looking for any help or advise on establishing death ( and birth) of the above.
Born c1885, believe Cardiff, but more likely Ireland!
Married Elizabeth Chard 1904 Cardiff.
Apparently died at sea 1918? but can find no details ! nothing showing on naval records, so could have been merchant navy? Family thought ship was Isis, but can't find any connection to a ship loss by that name c 1918.
Any help much appreciated.
