Find Ancestors

I have a copy of his death certificate which states he was born in Hurst Hill, Staffordshire on 21 April 1895. He died 24 October 1970 in Portsmouth, and worked as a 'fitter' in H.M. Dockyard.

I also have a copy of his marriage certificate..his father was Edward Sadler who was deceased at the time of his sons marriage in 1936 in Portsmouth.

Basically, I'm trying to obtain a copy of his birth certificate. I have sent away for one which turned out not to be him. It was Albert Edward Sadler. (I thought maybe he used Edward not Albert!)

Can't find him on this site or free BMD.

Flick, I noticed the Edwin too...maybe I should request it? I've just been researching Black Country history and the area of Sedgley and there were lots of forges/ironworks around the area.

Would be nice to be in touch with all the living relatives....what a waste eh? They're all around and about Portsmouth as far as I know and maybe..just maybe..they may have some key information!..Oh wel...until that happens I'll continue my own research.

Hello everyone.

Just in case any of the above members are here at the moment...

Still waiting for the birth certificate to arrive!! Although, I've just had a bit of a lightbulb moment...Edwards marriage certificate states Edward, (wife Florence) as his name..her death certificate which I have obtained states widow of EDWIN!!

Looking forward to receiving his birth certificate, (if they can locate it only with his date of birth?), and will see his fathers name too!

This would explain a lot!!
