I was adopted in 1958. Original name on birth certificate was Elizabeth Geikie Brown, mother Sylvia Nicholls (nee Jones) and father Richard. Origin Cheshire. Adopted name Parkinson. Any help please.

Elizabeth, I saw your posting before it was requested to be reviewed. I think this might be because of the info you gave re. people who might well still be living. If Genes decide it is OK they will re-instate it. It wasn't me by the way!

In the meantime, have you seen your adoption file? If so you need to do so. And have you tried asking advice from NORCAP? They are experts in all things to do with adoption.

The other option is to check out addresses you might have on electoral registers (not online unfortunately).

You can still ask for general advice on this thread.

Hello Elizabeth.
I am not sure what you wish to find out but I was adopted with a name change and found all the info I need and living relatives.
What I did was take a look at both birth certs particularly the adopted one and it should give you the council or area where you was adopted. If so contactthe local county council of that area and ask for the adoption office if they dont have one they will direct you to the correct place. when you contact give your birth info etc mother father place where they lived also the adopted name and date of adoption address where you lived at that time. You will most possibly be given a person who will help you get the info you want. ALL is free. I had to prove who I was for personnel reason and they made all the enq's at court and I was proven. This also was free and you dont have to go to court yourself as they do it for you
. also you can apply to the London Birth Marriage and Death office and ask them for the original adoption cert as the one they have has a note in the margin that gives info. (you dont get that on the one you maybe have)
A good place to look also is churches for baptism in the area you was born.
A lotto read but hope there are some clues here to help you.
Good Luck
