Death Record - John Atliff Brooks

John is not down my direct line of descent so I didn't want to go to the expense of certificates (only registers).

The first option seems the most likely, although I have nothing to link him with any particular location.

Thanks for your help Dee.

Ok, found this;

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941
about Hannah Brooks Name: Hannah Brooks
Probate Date: 5 Apr 1935
Death Date: 1 Oct 1934
Death Place: Middlesex, England
Registry: London

It states;

Of 20 Lawn Road, hampstead, middlesex. Wife of John Atliff Brooks.
Left effects to John Atcliff Brooks, retired Drayman £203 16s 9d.

So he died after Hannah!!!

Hi,

I would start by getting the wifes death certificate, it should state who registered the death, if it wasn't John then there maybe a strong chance that he had died prior to her???

I'm stuck (as usual). John was born in 1873 in Edworth, Beds. I've traced up to 1911 census where he was living in Hampstead/Pancras, London. His wife Hannah died in Pancras in 1934. I don't know whether John pre-deceased her or not.

Can anyone help please?
