I wonder where Alice Maud(e) was in 1891, 1901 as I cannot seem to spot her.

Naomi, Have you got Alice Maud's marriage certificate? If so does it confirm that her father was James Brown/Holloway as her father whose occupation was Oilman/Shopkeeper/Painter?

Naomi

My great grandfather, James Brown, was born in Kent in c1863. He was married to Sarah Anne Davey b 1866. They had 4 children Alice Maud 1888 (my grandmother) Caroline 1889-1905, William and James George. James snr kept an oil and paint shop on Chatsworth Road Hackney. He changed the family name to Holloway between 1891 and 1901 and thereafter was known as Holloway- Brown. Any info about him would be great. Regards Naomi
