Peter Report 21 Jun 2011 22:09

Hi again,

I have been to my local archives today to search for the three children of the above couple:

Fred Horner born 1866
Edmund Horner born 1868
Ada Horner born 1870

All the children were born in South Otterington, Yorkshire, and I can't find there marriages or them in the later census.

Can anyone else spot them?

Thanks,

Peter

Wow, thank you so much for this help Margee and PricklyHolly. Much appreciated. I too had difficulty finding the family in both 1871 and 1881 hence my request. Not sure where Charles is in 1881, and also 1891 and 1901 (which you could not find).

RE Emmigration. I have no idea. If you don't mind me asking, can you see the children in those census? That may explain that they family had emmigrated if they are missing, and Charles possibly returned by 1911?

I had found Edmund Horner in 1881 with Thomas Hogg when I researched that branch of the family. However, I had Mary Hogg under a different married name until I checked out the origional records ... shows the importance of not relying 100% on the net.

So, you have explain a lot and thank you ... but opened more questions! As is always the way (and long may it be that way)!

Thanks

Peter Report 20 Jun 2011 18:56

Hi there, could you please help me find my relation in the census.

They are Charles and Mary Horner married 31st December 1864 in Kirby Wiske, North Yorkshire.

Mary Horner was born Mary Hogg in 1839 in Newby Wiske (within the parish of Kirby Wiske).

I am looking for her in the 1871 census and beyond (although I can't see her in 1881). Can anyone help?

I am interested in discovering more about the lives of her and her husband and any of her children.

Thanks,

Peter
